Job description

Principal Function

​

The minister of music is responsible to the pastor for the development and promotion of the overall music program of the church.

Personal Qualifications

  1. Must have been baptized by immersion into a Baptist Church of like faith and order and actively serving in a Church.

  2. Must be available for part-time work.

  3. Must possess skills in music ministry and the ability to direct and train others.

  4. Should possess good leadership qualifications.

  5. Should have good organizational skills.

  6. Must agree doctrinally with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and practice spiritual and moral behaviors that edify God.

  7. Must submit to a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  1. Give general direction to a church music program that seeks to win people to Christ, strengthens worship, and encourages involvement.

  2. Supervise the work of the worship team and choir in the worship services.

  3. Supervise the organization, selection, care, and distribution of all music supplies.

  4. Supervise the acquisition and care of all musical instruments, equipment, and facilities related to the music program.

  5. Be responsible for enlisting, training, and supervising leaders for the Church music program in cooperation with the Pastor, Personnel Chair, and Deacons.

  6. Be a non-voting (ex-officio) member of all committees related to his position and will attend meetings as scheduled. The pastor may excuse.

  7. Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

  8. Must delegate duties in times of absence.

Program Coordination

  1. Lead Music Committee in making decisions with budget and music program.

  2. Coordinate all music with media personnel prior to services and coordinate the use of video resources related to music and worship, including but not limited to the worship live stream.

  3. Work with the pastor to coordinate all music programs, schedules, and music for worship.

Administrative Services

  1. Develop long-range goals and vision for the church’s music programs.

  2. Keep informed on current music and media methods, materials, promotions, and administration, utilizing them where appropriate.

Accountability

  1. This position reports directly to the Pastor.

  2. This position will involve you working as a team member with all other staff concerning activities.
